Impact of Demonstrations on the French Electorate
Pierre-Guillaume Méon, in a recent paper with N. Lagios and I. Tojerow, observes that demonstrations held during the 2002 French presidential elections against far-right candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen were effective in reducing his vote share. The paper moreover reports evidence that demonstrations affected the social desirability of voting for the far-right candidate.
