Political Polarisation

While at CESifo, Gary Hoover will further his work on political polarisation. He is currently working the impacts of political polarisation and its impact on the black/white wage gap in the United States along with the correlation between political polarisation and economic freedom.

Mr Hoover has published numerous scholarly research papers, book chapters and reviews on areas of public policy of income redistribution/poverty, political economy and ethics in the economics profession. He is a leading scholar on academic misconduct, specifically plagiarism, in the economics profession and sits on the REPEC plagiarism committee. Mr Hoover is also the co-chair of the American Economics Association Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession.

Gary Hoover is the founding and current editor of the Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy. He has been a visiting scholar at the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin. Mr Hoover is also CESifo Research Network Fellow. He has been a guest professor at the Universities of Hannover and Konstanz along with the University of Vienna.

Gary “Hoov” Hoover is currently a President’s Associates Presidential Professor and the Chair of the Economics Department at the University of Oklahoma. He received his PhD in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998.
